Construction and Plumbing

Construction and Plumbing

The construction industry is the powerhouse of our economy and workers with trade skills are among the most valuable in the workforce, with the sector growing year-on-year. Construction professionals are in high demand, and the industry offers you many opportunities for a rewarding and lucrative career.

The Construction Industry Training Board predicts that more than 158,000 new construction workers will be required over the next 5 years. London is one of the UK’s largest economic hubs and offers countless employment opportunities, and ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø has been recognised by the Mayor of London for our construction training. Our courses take place in our brand new state-of-the-art Construction and Green Skills Centre at Southall Community College, covering the full spectrum of pathways from brickwork and carpentry, to electrical installation, plastering and plumbing.

Our courses are taught by qualified tradespeople who have strong links with businesses and have worked across London and internationally. In addition, we embed emerging green and carbon neutral technologies in all programmes, to ensure your skills are relevant and that you are fully prepared for further study, apprenticeships or other employment.

All our programmes of study are designed to develop your practical skills that require great dexterity and consistent practice to become qualified to work in the industry.

You may have a starting point at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2. This will depend on your previous experience and your current attainment in English and Maths.

  • Entry 3 Construction Trade Skills are for novice level, wishing to develop their skills predominately in Brickwork, Plastering and Carpentry.
  • Level 1 Building Services Multi-Skills are for applicants who already know they would like to become an Electrician or a Plumber.
  • Our Level 2 offer in specific trades such as Brickwork, Carpentry, Electrical, Plastering and Plumbing are for applicants who already have some experience within each trade, and/or a previous qualification at either Entry 3 or Level 1.
